Vampire and Werewolf diseases are real. Myth to reality.

People are always have more interest in hearing myths, and fantasy stories. Mostly Vampires and Werewolfs are more trendy. Many movies had been taken based on it. Myths are mostly unbelievable, but derived from truth. We like to hear original stories with adding some magical elements. 

On cinematic side vampire and werewolf have powers like strength, speed, hypnotism... Both are transmitted through bites. Vampires don't go on sunlight, because their skin will burn on UV rays. They don't eat normal food. Eyes will be red. Their teeth will become sharp like a predator. Their skin looks pale. They don't like garlic. They drink blood to survive. 

Werewolf have the painful change during the  full moon. They have to wait for their mate in a lifetime. Originally some symptoms are real and may be derived from true version of transmitting diseases like Porphyria (The Vampire disease), Rabies and Hypertrichosis ( The Werewolf syndrome).

Porphyria (The Vampire Disease)

Porphyrias are a group of genetic diseases which results in defect of biosynthetic pathway of  porphyrins. High level of these compounds can cause acute abdominal pain and neurological dysfunction. In making of "Heme" compound, porphyrins are essential. Human blood is red because of the heme compound. It is the non-protein part of " hemoglobin" , a protein which carries oxygen through our bloodstream. People became anemic if hemoglobin level is low. 

There are many types of porphyria doss porphyria, Acute intermittent porphyria, congenital erythropoietic porphyria, porphyria cutanea tarda, Hereditary coporphyria, variegate porphyria and erythropoietic protoporphyria. These causes based on which compound defects in the pathway of heme. 

The most common is acute intermittent porphyria. King George lll, the British monarch during the American revolution suffered from acute intermittent porphyria. He was suffered from severe madness. On the rare case, accumulation of uroporphyrinogen I cause the urine red, make the teeth fluoresce on UV light and sensitivity to sunlight. It's symptoms like skin sensitivity to light, eruption of teeth with fluorescent bright red and also cause hypertricosis correlated with mythical vampire traits minus all the extraordinary powers. Due to anemic condition, patient will have pale look.

It can't be cured but manage it by altering food diet and administration of heme or heme derivatives.

Rabies

Rabies is caused by Lyssa virus that affects saliva and central nervous system. It is tranfer from infected animals to animals and to humans by a bite or scratch. Also spread through open wound, eyes when infected saliva gets to it. 

Symptoms include anxiety, agitation, excess salvation, hallucinations, hyperactivity, insomnia, difficulty swallowing, partial paralysis, barking like dog are seen in some case studies. 

In case of mythical Werewolf, the symptoms correlated are, after a bite of an animal, person will change to have an animal behaviour. Another study shows that animals  will go lunatic and bite humans on full moon.

Seek medical attention immediately. There is no specific treatment available. Very few people were survived after taking vaccination.

Hypertrichosis (The Werewolf Syndrome)

It is a rare disorder may be caused by imbalance of harmone level or genetic mutations. Excessive hair growth on anywhere on the body. It affect both men and women. Abnormal hair growth on face and body in small patches.

 Congenital Hypertrichosis caused by genes which stimulate hair growth became abnormally active. Acquired Hypertrichosis caused later on a person's life due to certain drugs, poor diet, cancer and cell mutations. People with porphyria have light sensitivity which triggers this condition.

There is no specific treatment for this condition. But removal of hair by waxing, shaving, bleaching and using chemicals are temporary solutions. This disorder is named as Werewolf syndrome because of thick hair appearance makes to look like a wolf.
